- Took my last in-class final today in my nursing concepts class. The nursing school here is pretty cool in that they have the keys to your exams readily available in another room. So, you mark down your answers on another sheet, then hand in your test and visit the key room for instant gratification. It's really a good idea, you get to see not only your score, but also the entire question and what the correct answers are. The instructor is in the room also to explain the logic behind the questions. I did well--I'll keep my A.
- I have an online final in pharmacology tomorrow. I'm pretty sure they're going to be recycled questions from the previous 8 (yes, EIGHT) lecture exams, so I'm not terribly worried. For now. I'll probably start freaking as it gets closer though...
- I was all set to pull the trigger on my PDA phone from ATT for my PDA for nursing school. Until I happened to speak with an upperclassman nursing student. They informed me that we're not allowed to have a camera OR phone PDA. So I checked the requirements they listed in the admissions packet. No mention of those restrictions at all. Man, I would have been seriously hacked if I'd paid $450 for a new PDA phone and then wasn't allowed to use it. NOT cool.
- Oh, and did I mention my wife has been contracting since about 1100 this morning. They're about
5 minutes3 minutes apart and only about 30 seconds long, but they are intensifying. Thought you'd all like to know. :o)

OOOHHH!! Is it baby time?
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
And congrats on your grades, keep it up!
Wow, my Palm centro was only $99.99! I guess I got a deal! I hope you can find somethin cheaper. Aaaaaaaaaand of course, more importantly, God's blessings on the upcoming birth!
ReplyDeleteThat's another thing!!! I'll have to purchase a PDA if I transfer! Good save for you!
ReplyDeleteIts baby time!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the finals! Keep you head up!
OUt here they give us the results immediatly too. I like the concept, but it can be frustrating because they leave them at the front of the room, and you can see some people get all mad because they got something wrong!
Heather: The $450 is full retail, if I had to buy it in time for classes to start in January, I wasn't eligble for an upgrade yet. On February 28, the price would be $99 with a 2 year contract.
ReplyDeleteHi there!
ReplyDelete1. I wish my school had this system - I'm jealous! We usually have our grades via email that evening or the next day. But instant gratification is so much better.
2. We've had 9 exams in my pharm class - glad to know we're not the only ones. : /
3. I almost did the same thing with the PDA phone. I was also going to buy an expensive software suite from Skyscape for $150 that included Taber's & other guides, but found out last minute that we couldn't.
4. Congratulations!
I saw that you have multiple degrees - are you in an accelerated BSN program? Our programs sound quite a bit alike and I'm on my second degree. :)
SSN: I like the instant gratification method because you actually get to see which questions you miss and why. The concepts of the questions I missed are firmly lodged in my head--which really is the whole point, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteI wish this were an accelerated BSN program, but it is a normal paced program. There is a program out there that is a DC to FNP bridge. Essentially it's two years long and the program grants a BSN, and a MSN FNP. I chose to go the regular route for several reasons. Maybe I'll do a post on that.
Thanks for stopping by my blog! :)
